Collision repair is about people helping people

who find themselves in a difficult situation, often through no fault of their own. It’s not just about putting cars back together — it’s about making people whole again. The collision repair community — including body shops, paint, parts, equipment and insurance companies — has been doing this for a long time.

And sometimes, the collision industry goes above and beyond the call of duty to make things a little bit brighter for those less fortunate. This section honors the shops and suppliers that take that additional step.

Van Tuyl Group Joins NABC, Commits to Donate 36 Recycled Rides

The National Auto Body Council (NABC) announced that Van Tuyl Group, Inc. has come forward to support the organization through diamond-level membership, the highest level of NABC corporate sponsorship, and will also participate extensively in this year's Recycled Rides initiative, committing to donate 36 vehicles to the cause.

Van Tuyl Group provides management consulting services to 70 independently-owned large automotive dealerships including 36 dealership collision repair facilities.

"We'll be donating one vehicle from each of our collision center locations," explained Van Tuyl Director of Collision Business Development Rafael Hinojos, who will be managing the project on behalf of the group. "Our goal is to help NABC reach its long-term goal of 500 simultaneous vehicle donations in 2012."

The Van Tuyl Group effort will include the participation of its collision center managers and technicians, its insurance and rental car partners, PPG Automotive Coatings and 3M.

"Van Tuyl Group, Inc. and our dealer partners are committed to the industry and the communities in which we operate, so we want to partner with an organization like NABC," said Van Tuyl National Collision Director Darren Huggins. "We are honored and humbled for the opportunity to contribute Recycled Rides to families who need a safe and reliable means of transportation."

The Van Tuyl Group collision centers are located throughout Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas.

Companies and collision repairers interested in changing the industry for the better can help by becoming a member of the NABC. Membership applications are available on the website at www.autobodycouncil.org.
